The World Can Be Your Canvas for Creative Expression
Think creativity can only be expressed by painting on a canvas, writing on paper or playing a musical instrument?I invite you to imagine the joy and satisfaction you'll discover when you begin to treat your entire world as the canvas for creative expression!My awesome neighbors recently hosted a block party where everyone in our hood was invited to add to a beautiful design created on the street in the middle of a busy intersection by a local artist. Using heart-shaped stencils, colorful paint and even glitter we added our names, the names of our family members and pets to the piece which she then finished off with a gorgeous, glittering Ganesh.
The idea is that speedy drivers will be curious about the bright, beautiful design in the middle of the road and slow dow to check it out. And, for those in the know, it will be an exercise in connection and mindfulness.Each time we drive through the intersection we'll be reminded of all the lovely people and animals that live, walk, work and play here and drive with greater care out of respect and love for them.Isn't that such brilliant expression of creative spirit? I love it and was so delighted to contribute my heart to the project.My next door neighbors use their entire yard as a canvas and have combined hundreds of lights, colorful bottles, interesting flotsam and jetsam to create one of the most popular places in our neck of the woods. Every time I drive up at night to see the glittering chandeliers hanging from trees, colorful glass bottles illuminated with light and the knight in shining armor who stands guard over the whimsical scene, I smile!
