How to Energize Your Creative Vision
Creative Reframing:
Bestowing your creative endeavor with a special name helps you elevate and enjoy it in a myriad of ways.
Naming the decluttering portion of my current creative vision as “Adventures In Letting Go” has created several positive shifts:
Every time I think about “Adventures In Letting Go” I quickly see the connection between my overall vision (which includes more traveling and working abroad) and the task at hand (which includes cleaning out my house and prepping for rental.)
I feel about a hundred times more energized to take on the decluttering that needs to happen in order for my vision to become a reality.
Since my WHY is baked into the name it instantly reminds me the reason I want to release stuff, obligations and even relationships right now is because they don’t align with the greater creative vision I have for my life in the future.
Intentional Naming is Energizing!
Check out the difference between these two scenarios:
A: My unintentional, default thought (which TBH I’ve had for ages):
“I have to get my entire house sorted, decluttered and cleaned out.”
This makes me feel overwhelmed and want to head straight to the word game on my phone or wine and Netflix.
It keeps me stuck in the loop of the familiar rather than creating something new.
B: My intentional thought that calls my project by it’s new name within a delightfully doable time frame:
“I get to spend the next 30 minutes diving into “Adventures In Letting Go!”
This makes me feel energized, focused and ready to dive into that next pile on my desk and sort, baby, sort!
It keeps me moving forward in the name of bringing my dream to life with intention ~ even when what I need to do feels challenging!
Last week I invited my clients to name the creative endeavors they’d brought to our Magic Action Dates with fantastic results!
“I need to paint” shifted to “Playing around with paint” which led to her enjoying some time painting.
“I need to send my newsletter” shifted to “Stories to be told” which led to a “good enough” newsletter being completed and shared.
“I need to practice drawing” shifted to “Possum-bilities” which led to a fun possum sketching session.
Which of your creative projects would you like to name? How will it help motivate you to move forward?
