How You Fuel Your Overwhelm

You fuel your feelings of OVERWHELM in three ways…

One ~ You obsess about the future in unhelpful ways.

You spin in mind drama about awful things that may or may not ever happen.

~ People may not read my book.

~ People may laugh at my art.

~ People may not register for my course.

~ People may not listen to my podcast.

~ People may not purchase my jewelry.

And the entire time you think these thoughts your poor brain feels as awful as if those events are really happening.

Two ~ You obsess about the present in unhelpful ways.

You beat yourself up for all of the creative projects you want to do but are currently not doing.

~ I should be writing, but I’m not.

~ I should be painting, but I’m not.

~ I should be creating my course, but I’m not.

~ I should be recording my podcast, but I’m not.

~ I should be making jewelry, but I’m not.

These thoughts are served up with a hefty dose of judgement, which ~ surprise surprise ~ also feels terrible.

Three ~ You obsess about the past in unhelpful ways.

You dwell on things that have already happened (or not) that you have zero chance of changing at this point.

~ I should’ve finished writing this years ago.

~ I should’ve started painting when I was younger.

~ I should’ve created this course before COVID hit.

~ I should’ve started my podcast before everyone on the

planet had one.

~ I should’ve opened my Esty shop before the holidays.

These are another set of thoughts that will fuel your feelings

of overwhelm like gasoline on a fire.

Do you see the theme here?

The way to stop feeling trapped in overwhelm is to replace these overwhelm-inducing thought patterns with intentional thoughts and actions that will serve you and your creative dreams in the here and now.
